GWO: Basic Safety Training – First Aid Refresher

Course Objectives:

GWO First Aid Refresher is designed to refresh participants with the practical skills and knowledge previously acquired from attending an initial GWO First Aid course. The course ensures participants maintain the ability to administer prompt, safe and effective first aid in the wind industry, and in a wind turbine environment, in accordance with GWO training standards. The training includes combination of theoretical and practical exercises.

Prerequisites:

All participants are required to have their personal WINDA registration number and valid and in-date GWO First Aid or a GWO First Aid Refresher certificate.

Participants completing a GWO First Aid Refresher training course will be able to:
– Gain an understanding of the psychological effects of first aid for a first aider
– Understand sudden sickness and environmental factors (e.g. chemical, air quality, dust, pollen, gases, poisonous animal bites etc.)
– Understand types of trauma
– Gain an understanding of incident management and situational awareness
– Manage and administer first aid during complex incidents with several (2-5) casualties

Fitness:

A good standard of general fitness is required – participants will complete a medical fitness questionnaire at the centre at the commencement of the courses.
